On whether the game schedule at the start of the season has been “weird”:
No, I’m not really even sure what day it is. Game day. 7, 7:30. You just get used to it. You play afternoon games. It’s the way the schedule works. Especially in this time zone, you move a lot of time zones around, too.
On whether the three days off before Thursday’s game affects how he uses players tonight:
No, it has no bearing. I said it yesterday. We need to get a lot more out of guys who haven’t played many minutes, and we need our top guys to really take on the leadership and the identity of our team.
On Brayden McNabb’s play since he did not appear in the season opener:
He’s played strong. We need him to be consistent. Can’t have any games off. Can’t be in a situation where we’re saying, ‘well, he had a drop because he’s a young guy.’ We need consistency. We’re trying to win hockey games.
On Colorado’s power play:
They have pretty good personnel on it, that’s all I know. Penalty killing last year and in training camp and coming into the season has been quite a bit better than most teams’ penalty killing, so we’re more concerned about our power play and not theirs.
