March 19 postgame notes

-With the overtime loss, Los Angeles fell to 54-44-24 all-time against Anaheim, a record that includes an away mark of 21-27-13. The Kings finished the season series against the Ducks with a 1-1-3 record, with four of five games going to overtime. Six of the last seven games in the series have been decided by one goal.

-In the season series, Los Angeles outscored Anaheim 4-0 in first periods. The two teams tied 5-5 in second periods. The Ducks outscored the Kings 10-4 in third periods and 3-1 in overtime and shootouts. Ryan Kesler led all skaters with five goals and seven points in the season series.

-Los Angeles fell to 21-10-10 against the Western Conference and 12-4-7 against the Pacific Division.

-In the last 38 games in which Los Angeles took a lead into the third period dating back to March 17, 2014, they are 28-6-4.

–With a three-for-three penalty killing performance the Kings have now killed off 44 of the last 46 penalties dating back to David Jones’ second period goal in Los Angeles’ 5-3 win over Calgary on February 12.

-Dating back to February 7, Jonathan Quick (23/26) is 13-3-2 with a 1.75 GAA, .930 Sv% and three shutouts (1063:49 min / 442 shots against / 411 saves).

-With his first period assist, Anze Kopitar recorded his 599th career point (216-383=599). With 383 assists, he is one assist shy of Butch Goring (384 assists) for sixth place on the Kings’ all-time list. He now has 52 points (21-31=52) in 50 career games against Anaheim.

-Los Angeles attempted 52 shots (31 on goal, 16 blocked, 5 missed). Anaheim attempted 49 shots (26 on goal, 12 blocked, 11 missed). Drew Doughty led all skaters with eight shot attempts (4 on goal, 2 blocked, 2 missed), while Kyle Palmieri led all skaters with five shots on goal.

-The Kings won 22-of-58 faceoffs. Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 12-of-27, Andy Andreoff won 2-of-4, Trevor Lewis won 1-of-6, Nick Shore won 1-of-4 and Jeff Carter won 5-of-16. Nate Thompson won 11 of 12 faceoffs for the Ducks and led all skaters with six hits.

Thursday March 19 is a scheduled off-day for the Kings. The next practice will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20 at Toyota Sports Center.
