March 17 practice notes

Good afternoon from Toyota Sports Center, where the Kings are trickling out of the facility after an 11:00 a.m. practice. There weren’t as many line rushes at today’s skate as there was work on special teams play, though there were there were still some important lineup and personnel developments.

-Important Development Number One: Green practice jerseys. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Insiders. Also, take note of Darryl Sutter’s strong hat game.

-Important Development Number Two: Alec Martinez participated in battle components of drills as he continues to work his way back from “concussion-like symptoms” as the result of a Cedric Paquette hit in a win over Tampa Bay on February 7. He remained on the ice for extra conditioning after game-ready players had left the ice, so he may still be another practice or two away from returning to full game action. I’ll have a Darryl Sutter quote shortly, but it doesn’t shed light on when exactly to expect Martinez back in the lineup.

-Important Development Number Three: Tanner Pearson joined the group at the end of practice and remained on the ice for extra work as he continues to work his way back from a broken lower fibula that required surgery. There’s no timetable for Pearson’s return, though he continues to make progress.

-Another reminder: We have an all-staff meeting this afternoon, so posting will slow after Darryl’s quotes. You’ll want to read Darryl’s quotes, though – there’s ample insight into Jonathan Quick, Andy Andreoff and other team-related topics.
