Good morning, Insiders, and good morning, Winnipeg.
Good news, everyone! It is a balmy three degrees this morning, though it should warm up quickly to a respectable 19 at game time. There’s no real weather, however – no snow, no wind, nothing that should keep us from getting to Edmonton after today’s matinee. I know, I’m just as shocked as you are that an early March road trip through Winnipeg and Edmonton might actually be really cold. It was a calm night last night, and after walking back from dinner in five degree weather (thank you, NHL, for the Stadium Series beanie), several of us stopped downstairs for a glass of wine. One of our servers told us that she liked this weather because it allowed her to wear her favorite pea green jacket, and not a heavy, winter down parka. Perspective! Let’s keep some of it.
There are zero similarities between the approaches into YWG and LAX, other than that you are on a plane that will be on the ground soon.
We’ll be moving quickly today. I’m going to post a chat with Andrej Sekera from yesterday, followed by today’s game preview. We’re hoping to catch Darryl Sutter downstairs at the MTS Centre at 12:30, though the labyrinthine network of underground and above-ground walkways that links together the downtown core resembles an Escher drawing, and it’s likely I’ll just end up back at the hotel after a fruitless 30-minute excursion.
Before I depart: MUNTERS.
Pre-game Kings Live coverage begins at 12:30 p.m. PT. Brayden McNabb will be my bench interview during warm-ups. Enjoy your Sunday, Insiders.
