Good morning from Detroit, where the Kings arrived roughly half an hour after a touch down at DTW last night. Arrival at the hotel was at 12:30, give or take, and would have been earlier if not for the Pittsburgh and Detroit airports being situated well outside of each city’s downtown areas. For the second straight flight, travel time from wheels up to wheels down was roughly 40 minutes.
While there are many early-to-mid 20th century building depicted in these Detroit photos, I feel as if I helped construct two of the newer ones. We’re near the DTE Energy building and the MGM Grand Casino, two institutions that I offered semi-regular donations to during my time as an undergraduate 40 miles to the west.
Happy Halloween, Insiders. Part 4 of a 38-part series:
Unfortunately it’s a cold and rainy Halloween day here in the Motor City, and today’s view doesn’t exactly match the sunset across Los Angeles that was circulating through social media yesterday. You can, however, catch a sliver of Comerica Park and Ford Field from a mile or so away:
The Kings won’t skate at the Joe today and will instead hold meetings at the team hotel. Lots more to come on the spookiest day of the year, including a 4:00 p.m. PT Kings Live pre-game that will feature an interview with Alec Martinez on the Kings’ bench. Let’s talk soon.
