On the influence Mike Richards has on younger players:
Well, he’s a winner. He’s pretty much done it his whole life, first and foremost. He’s a guy who relates well with everybody. He’s not a guy who’s out on his own. He spends a lot of time with those young guys.
On having an extra day to “regroup”:
Yeah, it’s not really regrouping. I mean, we’d have preferred to play yesterday. Once playoffs start, you want to go every other day, if you can.
On Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli skating with Jeff Carter:
They haven’t played together very much in the playoffs. Tanner and Tyler played a little bit together, and Tyler and Jeff have played a lot together. If you’d just base it on shift, they’re probably seven or eight minutes a game together, so it’s not a dramatic thing. We’ve got to get Jeff out there a lot, so we probably base it on more on how those guys are playing. Jeff plays two positions, which is an advantage for us. He’s a penalty killer, a power play guy, so if it’s a five-on-five game, it impacts how much guys play together.
On what has made Chicago difficult to play at the United Center:
Hopefully the Los Angeles Kings can beat ‘em once. Do you think they won the Stanley Cup last year because they’re not a great home ice team? I mean, it doesn’t just all of a sudden happen in playoffs. They’re historically a great home ice team. [Reporter: That’s why I’m just asking in your opinion what makes them a great home ice team? What makes them better here as opposed to on the road?] You’re probably pretty good everywhere if you’ve got the record they’ve got.
On whether he’ll try to keep the Kopitar line away from the Toews line:
It’s not that big a deal to us. Kopi and Gabby and Brownie – that’s a good match-up for us. I think everybody wants to see that, and that’s a good match-up. It’s a pretty even match-up, I think. It’s not that for us, it’s after that.
On how Los Angeles plans to “get more pucks past” Corey Crawford:
Just get more shots, try to. Try and get to the net more. Bear down on opportunities.
