On the team’s high level of play despite the inability to move up in the standings:
First of all, we have to be better at home. That’s one of our main goals, to get better playing at home and you don’t want to ever go into a game lightly, especially when you’re under 10 games left to the playoffs. We want to keep building on our game and continue getting better and have a good feeling going into the playoffs.
On his own play:
I have to keep playing hard and trying to shut down their good guys and I think me and Dewey are doing a pretty good job. There are things we can get better at, but we keep building and getting better at those. We have a good core going into the playoffs here.
On the challenging assignments from the most recent road trip:
Take away time and space on those big guys and play them hard and try to get them off their game a little bit. They’re all good players – Giroux, Ovechkin, Crosby – they’re all good guys. So as a D-group, as a team, and as a whole unit we did a pretty good job of shutting those guys down.
On what he gained from playing against Sidney Crosby on Thursday:
You have to be aware of where he is. You know they’re looking to give him the puck and he’s going to work to get open. So watching where he is and having an idea of where he is on the ice and trying to shut him down and just take away him getting speed and space with the puck because he’s pretty dangerous.
