On Marian Gaborik:
When he’s kind of parallel to the guy, with his speed, you can just chuck it up the ice and you know he’s going to get there. That’s something we’ve been talking about, too, maybe to try and put it into an open area for him to skate into it. I’ve done it with Jeff a couple times when we were playing together, but those kinds of plays, you’ve got to kind of get familiar with him. He’s got to get familiar with us. But, again, I think we’re on the right track.
On facing Washington again next week:
Try to stay out of the box as much as we can. You can’t really play a rush game, because they have a couple guys that can really hurt you on the rush. Obviously when Ovechkin’s on the ice, they look for him quite a bit. So you want to take that away as much as you can. Other than that, worry about our game and play our game.
On any different feeling after a shootout:
Well, we got the two points and they’re in the east, so they’re collecting points in the east and we got the two points that we wanted, so it doesn’t really matter. [Reporter: Does it build momentum? Do you feel a different sense of excitement after a win like this?] Yeah. I think we’ve been on a little bit of a skid, obviously, with a three-game losing streak. This one feels good.
On getting sticks and bodies in front of pucks in the defensive zone:
Yeah, I mean we were trying to help Quickie as much as we can. If that’s the case, blocking a couple shots, I don’t think there’s anybody in here that would have to think twice about it. It’s just a team play.
