Oh how big the victory is:
“It’s huge. Leaving here up two-nothing is a lot sweeter than going into San Jose one-one. They’re a hard team to play in their building, so it was big. It was a huge game.”
On Trevor Lewis’ game-winning goal:
“I was just at the blue line, made a little move and he stuttered a little bit, so I just took it wide and I knew Penns and Lewie were going to be going to the net, so I just put it on the pad and Lewis was there for the tap-in goal.”
On the team’s mindset going into the third period:
“We weren’t playing our best, so we definitely wanted to go and play 20 minutes hard and see what would happen. We came out in the third and put a lot of pressure on their D and they were taking penalties and we created some goals.”
On the mood on the bench during the five-on-three power play:
“It was huge. It was a huge goal by Brownie and all of them getting the puck to the net and jamming it in. That’s what we needed. It was huge.”
On his play over the final 10 minutes of the game:
“I was just trying to play my hardest. I was put in a big role, and it was huge. I just wanted to go and continue working hard and keep getting pucks to the net and creating chances. We got a good bounce there and Lewie put it in.”
On getting more ice time and becoming more comfortable as the playoffs have progressed:
“I don’t think it really matters how much ice time I’m getting. It’s just helping the team in whatever role I’m being put in. Tonight I got a lot of minutes, a lot more than I’m used to, so I just kind of take it all in and played the best I could.
