On Tyler Toffoli’s recall:
“We play a lot of games in a short period of time.”
On Toffoli:
“We had a spot on our roster. It’s very clear. We play a lot of games in a short period of time and we go east coast-west coast, so it’s a good chance. It’s no different than when we had [Andrew] Campbell here before. We had room on our roster for another forward this time. Last time we needed a roster spot for a defenseman.”
On Toffoli’s merits and what he had heard from Manchester on Toffoli’s recent play:
“It’s not from what I’ve heard, it’s from what I’ve seen. He’s second in the league in goals. He has three shots a game, which is a high stat, no matter what league you’re in. He’s got three shorthanded goals. He’s got power play goals. He’s an All-Star. He’s 20-years old. We like young guys, and we have wingers that are still halfway into the year with one or no goals, so it’s good competition.”
On whether Mike Richards is fully healthy:
“Yep, he’s fine. He wouldn’t have been in in the third [period] if he wasn’t.”
On whether he expects any carry-over of Saturday night’s late chippiness:
“I think I was asked after the game then – that’s not our style and that’s not their style. The score was 6-2.”
On Carter earning the NHL’s “Third Star” of the week:
“It’s good they’re watching guys in the west once in a while. It’s nice they’re talking about Anaheim having a great start and recognizing players that have had good weeks and good games. That is a point of emphasis in all that, right? I mean, it’s good that they’re talking about – everybody was stuck on Chicago – well, Anaheim is right on Chicago. You look at regulation wins, there are three or four teams – us included – that are right at the top. It’s good.”
