Penner’s return?

It is likely that there will be a line adjustment for Saturday night’s game in Anaheim. Dustin Penner was in a white practice jersey on Friday, as were Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, which would indicate that the line that provided the Kings some clutch contributions and consistent production during the playoffs a season ago could be reunited. The trio combined for 39 points and two overtime game-winners in the postseason.

Penner hasn’t appeared in a game since the loss to Colorado on January 22. Though he was active and registered three shots in the season opener versus Chicago, he was held without a shot and took two minor penalties against the Avalanche.

Darryl Sutter, on whether it’s time to reinstate Penner in the lineup:

“Yep. He’s ready to go.”

Sutter, on whether Penner’s size and past production makes him an ideal candidate to step in:

“I think we have elements that he can bring that we need in our lineup.”

Sutter, on whether Penner could see time on the power play against Anaheim:

“You know what, that second group of guys kind of slides in and out, depending who it is, and how they’re doing.”
