Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on playing well in the third period…)
KOPITAR: “Obviously the coaches stress that too, but the guys knew that you can’t sit back. We kept pushing, we kept attacking, draw a few penalties. That’s what you’ve got to do in these types of games. You can’t just sit back. You can’t wait for them to come at you. I thought it was a great team effort the whole game. That’s the type of game we have to play.’’
(on the strong start…)
KOPITAR: “Years before, me personally or whoever was on the team, we came in and we got caught off-guard by their start, because they always come out of the gate really hard. That’s kind of their statement right off the hop, and tonight we wanted to come out just as hard, if not harder, and push them back on their heels. We were able to do that right off the hop, get some shots in the early going.’’
(on his chemistry with Dustin Brown…)
KOPITAR: “We’ve been only playing together for six years, so it’s about time. [laughs] It wasn’t easy, earlier, obviously for anybody, what we had going on. Right now, Willy is a big part of this line too. He’s been making some really good plays and scoring some big goals. The way we’re going right now, I’m enjoying it on the ice and it’s enjoyable to play, and I’m sure the other two are enjoying it just as much, so we have to continue playing like that.’’
