Game 75: Bruins 4, Kings 2 (FINAL)

It’s the Kings’ final game against an Eastern Conference opponent this season, as they host the Boston Bruins. All the action is on Fox Sports West and on 1150-AM and affiliates, with all the game updates here as well…

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Thomas.
Bruins 2, Kings 1: Boston got the lead back 4:37 into the third period. Milan Lucic entered the Kings’ zone and took a short drop pass from David Krejci. Lucic fired a sharp wrist shot from the middle of the right circle and beat Quick, five-hole. Jordan Caron also got an assist.
Bruins 3, Kings 1: A beautiful sequence of quick passing gave the Bruins a two-goal lead at the 5:56 mark. The Kings lost coverage, with only one man back, and the Bruins took advantage. Brian Rolston found Benoit Pouliot in the left circle, and Pouliot alertly looked up and found Chris Kelly alone in front. Kelly deflected the puck with his skate onto his stick and scored from close range.
Bruins 3, Kings 2: The Kings made it a one-goal game with 5:14 remaining. After a faceoff win in the Boston zone, Slava Voynov took a shot from the blue line, with Dustin Brown running traffic in front. The shot beat Thomas. Justin Williams picked up an assist.
Bruins 4, Kings 2: The Bruins’ Brad Marchand scored an empty-net goal in the final second.
End of period: The Kings had their six-game winning streak ended. The Kings outshot the Bruins 43-26.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Thomas.
Bruins 1, Kings 0: Boston took the lead with a shorthanded goal at the 5:18 mark of the period. Drew Doughty attempted a pass near the Kings’ blue line, but Brad Marchand deflected the puck, controlled it and skated in alone on Quick. Doughty recovered enough to prevent Marchand from getting off a clean shot, but the puck stayed in front of the net. Patrice Bergeron skated in and scored from close range. It was the second shorthanded goal the Kings have allowed this season.
Kings 1, Bruins 1: The Kings tied the game with 6:43 remaining in the period, on Colin Fraser’s second goal of the season. Fraser had the puck in the neutral zone, then pushed it to Kyle Clifford, who pushed it to Drew Doughty near the right boards. Fraser went to the net and Doughty made a pass through traffic that found Fraser’s stick, and Fraser scored from close range.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Bruins 9-8 in the period. The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play — and allowed a shorthanded goal — and did not face a penalty kill.

FIRST PERIOD
Officials: Rob Martell, Brad Watson (referees); Brad Lazarowich, Mark Wheler (linesmen).
Lineups: Davis Drewiske, Brad Richardson and Kevin Westgarth are the Kings’ healthy scratches.
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Bruins’ Tim Thomas.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Bruins 15-11 in the period. The Kings went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill and did not have a power play.
