Game 48: Flames 2, Kings 1 (FINAL, SO)

For the second time in less than a week, it’s Sutter vs. Sutter as the Kings host the Calgary Flames. All the action will be on Fox Sports West and on 1150-AM and affiliates, with all the game updates here as well…

In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Kiprusoff.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Flames 5-3 in overtime. The Kings had a power play for the final 34.1 seconds but could not score.

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Kiprusoff.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Flames 10-9 in the scoreless, penalty-free period. The Kings head to overtime for the 10th time in their last 16 games.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Kiprusoff.
Kings 1, Flames 1: The Kings killed a Calgary two-man advantage at the start of the period, but the Flames tied the game on a power-play goal at the 9:15 mark. Willie Mitchell broke his stick while killing the penalty, and Trevor Lewis gave up his stick to Mitchell. The Flames worked the puck to Lewis’ side, to Jarome Iginla, and Iginla ripped a shot past Quick from the left circle. Olli Jokinen and T.J. Brodie got assists.
End of period: The Flames outshot the Kings 10-9 in the period. The Kings did not have a power play and went 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Flames’ Miikka Kiprusoff.
Kings 1, Flames 0: The Kings took the lead 3:28 into the game. Justin Williams carried the puck into the Calgary zone, and his shot got deflected, but deflected directly to Dustin Brown, who shot and scored from close range. Willie Mitchell also got an assist.
End of period: The Kings outshot the Flames 8-3 in the period. The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Flames will have a 5-on-3 advantage for the first 38 seconds of the second period, and a power play for the first 1:58 overall.
