Sutter postgame quotes (Jan. 9)

Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…

(on Jonathan Bernier’s game…)
SUTTER: “He didn’t have a lot of work. He made some saves in traffic and bounced back from an early goal. Other than that, it was more of a team thing.”

(on the five goals…)
SUTTER: “They scored all the goals the same way, going to the front of the net, stopping around the net, rebound plays. They’re all capable of doing that. … It’s good to score. It’s good for those guys. And we got it from all the lines. It wasn’t like it was one guy, or just the guys who usually do that stuff.”

(on the Kings’ net-front play…)
SUTTER: “All the goals were the same. That’s how most of the goals are scored, rebounds and guys around the net. You look at even Ovechkin and those guys. They’re around the net to score. Everybody sees the highlight reels and thinks that’s how it is, but it’s really not like that in this league.”

(on Kyle Clifford getting rewarded for good play with a goal…)
SUTTER: “It’s a good deal. He made some really good plays, for not just the goal but also on (Jack Johnson’s) goal.”

(on breaking through with five goals…)
SUTTER: “The league is a 3-2 league. It’s simple. That’s what it is. When you do it at the end of the year, that’s what it is. So you’ve got to try to score three and keep them under two.”

(on rebounding from the Columbus loss…)
SUTTER: “Hell of an effort Saturday too. Everybody bases it on wins and losses. A lot of times when you lose, you’re winning. You just have to stay with it and figure it out and not let anything else get in your way.’’
