Voynov earns praise in second stint

Today’s game with be the fourth game for Slava Voynov since his second recall from the AHL this season. Voynov, up because of the injury to Alec Martinez, had a one-goal, one-assist game at Anaheim on Thursday and has been steady in a big-minute partnership with Willie Mitchell. Voynov’s ice time did dip a bit, though, in Saturday’s loss to Detroit, as he played exactly 18 minutes, the lowest total of his eight-game NHL campaign thus far. Still, Terry Murray expressed satisfaction with what Voynov has brough to the Kings.

MURRAY: “I’m seeing a lot of real good things from him. I think he has just continued with the same kind of a game that he showed us in his first recall situation. A lot of composure, very smart on the power play. His availability off the puck is second to none, in my opinion. And he shows a lot of battle, he shows a lot of strength in those 1-on-1 situations, to be able to pull pucks out of piles and make plays and start breakouts. We go through a game like we did against Detroit, and I’m really not going to throw him into that, and evaluate him, because it was just a game that Detroit played extremely well and took it to us. We need to bounce back with a better one today.’’
