Mike Richards’ postgame thoughts…
(on the change between the first and second periods…)
RICHARDS: “In the second, we stopped getting the puck in deep. We didn’t move our feet as much as we did in the first, and that caused us to take some penalties and give a good power play a chance, not only to score some goals but to get momentum for their hockey team. They scored big goals in big parts of that period and they put us back on our heels, trying to kill the penalties off.’’
(on the level of concern about this recent skid…)
RICHARDS: “It’s concerning. Obviously you don’t want to lose at any point of the season, especially a string of them in a row. You’ve just got to have confidence in your team and confidence in the system, not try to do too much, and just stay focused, really. Confidence in each other, I think, is the biggest thing. You don’t want to try to do too much on the ice, or try to change things. You just have to keep going out there and playing hard. The recipe to turn it around is just working hard and battling through it.’’
