Kings try to embrace distraction

As noted throughout yesterday, tonight will essentially be “Mike Richards Night’’ at Wells Fargo Center. It’s unknown whether the Flyers will do any kind of tribute/recognition for Richards, but he’s expected to receive a nice ovation from the fans and has already been the focus of significant media attention over the last few days. That could be a distraction, especially at the end of a long road trip, but Terry Murray also talked about using that “distraction’’ as a positive, as a way for his players…

MURRAY: “I think it will be. I think the players have already identified that as an opportunity to really dig in and play well for Mike Richards. It’s always about the team, mind you, but everybody knows what is going on, with him coming back. It’s the end of the trip. It’s a huge game for Mike and it’s a huge game for the L.A. Kings, just to finish this trip off, and we’ll put a positive spin on it that way.’’
