Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings scored four second-period goals and beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-0 in a preseason game at Pepsi Center.
— The Kings had totaled seven goals in their four previous preseason games and had not previously recorded a preseason shutout.
— The Kings improved to 2-1-2 in the preseason, with two exhibition games left against NHL teams and one against a German team.
— The Kings outshot the Avalanche 32-27.
— The Kings went 3-for-5 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill. They are 18-for-18 on the penalty kill in preseason.
— Anze Kopitar recorded a hat trick, with two second-period goals and one third-period goal.
— Jonathan Quick stopped 27 shots for his first shutout of the preseason.
— Jack Johnson had three assists, including two on the power play.
— Slava Voynov and Justin Williams had one goal and one assist. Brad Richardson scored a goal. Trent Hunter had two assists. Scott Parse, Trevor Lewis, Willie Mitchell, Thomas Hickey and Andrei Loktionov each had one assist.
— Justin Williams recorded a team-high six shots on goal, followed by Anze Kopitar with five and Trevor Lewis with four. Andrew Campbell, Trent Hunter, Willie Mitchell and Slava Voynov each were credited with two hits. Voynov was credited with two blocked shots.
— Jack Johnson led in Kings in ice time at 23:30, followed by Slava Voynov at 23:16. Anze Kiopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 19:17, followed by Simon Gagne at 18:32.
— The Kings won 19 of 27 faceoffs (40 percent). Anze Kopitar won 5 of 14 draws (36 percent). Trevor Lewis won 6 of 13 draws (46 percent).
