Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on the shutout…)
QUICK: “I thought the team played really well, as far as system work, D-zone, stuff like that. The power play was playing well. The PK was playing well. They’re all good signs. It’s a bit of a boost of confidence, plus we get a win. I don’t think we’d won since game 1 of the preseason, so on a couple different levels you get a boost of confidence as a team. You’ve just got to try to build on it. We’ve still got a little ways to go before the start of the season, but everything is headed in the right direction.’’
(on the strong penalty killing in the preseason…)
QUICK: “Johnny Stevens, he does a good job of putting together a good system for us. The boys do a good job of executing and taking care of what you have to take care of, clearing out rebounds, blocking shots and taking lanes away. If you’re doing it right, it’s going to work and you’re going to be successful.’’
(on his progress during the preseason…)
QUICK: “After the last game, I wished I was a little further along, but that’s the game-to-game stuff that’s going to happen throughout the year. You can’t get frustrated with anything, with things that go wrong at this point. You’ve just got to figure out what you’re doing wrong and fix it. We have a little bit of time here — not a lot of time — but stuff still needs to be fixed. Despite the win, stuff still needs to be fixed.’’
