The Kings are hoping not to experience any deja vu tonight. Last year, their first-round playoff series (and season) ended with a Game 6 home loss to Vancouver, although the circumstances of that game were a bit different. The Kings lost a third-period lead in Game 4 at home, then were blown out in Game 5 at Vancouver. Game 6 was a tight one, with the Kings leading 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after the second, but the Canucks took the lead 1:57 into the third period and scored the game-winner with 2:03 remaining. Today, Terry Murray said he didn’t have any inclination to review last year’s Game 6 but, when asked about it, did use it as a reference point in terms of taking advantage of opportunities…
MURRAY: “Last year, I remember Game 6, a 2-2 game going into the third period. We had two unbelievable opportunities. We had a breakaway and we had a 2-on-1 and could have iced the game. Those are critical moments in the game. You need to identify them, you need to take advantage of it in a playoff situation, because they’re few and far between at that stage in the game. Both teams, I think, are going to be very responsible.”
