Wayne Simmonds’ postgame thoughts…
(on Jonathan Quick’s game…)
SIMMONDS: “Unbelievable. He has done that all year long for us. He’s been our best player for the majority of the year, and he stood on his head tonight and helped us get this victory.”
(on getting the early goals after San Jose’s strong start…)
SIMMONDS: “Our line, and I think the rest of our team, we kind of woke up a little bit. We realized, obviously, that we were in for one. We were lucky to score on our first shot, and we just tried to follow up from there.”
(on his line’s play…)
SIMMONDS: “I just think we read off each other really well. All three of us are fast guys, and we’re not afraid to go into the gritty areas, and we’re getting goals as a result of that.”
(on forcing a Game 6…)
SIMMONDS: “We’ve got to go home and get focused and be ready for Game 6.”
(on being able to hold the big lead…)
SIMMONDS: “We had to keep the puck out of the middle of the ice, and I think they had 52 shots tonight, but I think a lot of them were from the perimeter. That was pretty much our game plan. They’re obviously dangerous from the middle of the ice.”
