Postgame notes (March 7)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings failed to win when leading after the second period for the first time this season, as they fell to the Dallas Stars 4-3 in overtime on Monday night.

— The Kings had been 19-0-0 this season when taking a lead into the third period.

— The Kings went 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, and allowed a shorthanded goal. The Kings have allowed six shorthanded goals this season and scored four shorthanded goals. After going 5-for-19 on the power play in their previous four games, the Kings are now 0-for-10 in their last two games, failing to score a goal in 19 minutes of power-play time against Vancouver and Dallas. The Kings are 12-for-12 on the penalty kill in their last three games.

— The Kings have a 16-15-3 record when they fail to score a power-play goal, as opposed to a 20-10-2 record when they score at least one power-play goal.

— The Kings outshot the Stars 23-22. The Kings have totaled 23 or fewer shots on goal in three consecutive games.

— The Kings are now 1-3 in games decided in overtime, with three consecutive losses.

— The Kings fell to 20-11-2 at home, 28-10-2 when scoring the first goal, 16-3-2 when leading after the first period, 19-0-1 when leading after the second period, 17-8-5 in one-goal games and 8-8-0 in games against Pacific Division opponents.

— Jonathan Bernier stopped 18 of 22 shots. Bernier had allowed three or fewer goals in seven consecutive starts, and two or fewer goals in six of his last seven starts.

— Justin Williams had one goal and one assist and now has 401 career points in 618 NHL games. Williams has one goal and three assists in his last five games.

— Willie Mitchell had one goal, his third goal of the season and his second goal in his last seven games. Mitchell had a career-high four goals last season.

— Kyle Clifford had one goal, his fifth goal of the season. Clifford had gone 19 consecutive games without a goal.

— Anze Kopitar had two assists, and has three goals and seven assists in his last 10 games.

— Dustin Penner had one assist. Penner has one goal and one assist in three games with the Kings.

— Trevor Lewis had one assist, for his eighth point of the season. Lewis had three assists in his last seven games.

— Justin Williams recorded a game-high five shots on goal. Alexei Ponikarovsky was credited with a team-high five hits and Drew Doughty was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty played a game-high 26 minutes, 37 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all forwards in ice time at 23:46.

— The Kings won 28 of 50 faceoffs (56 percent). Jarret Stoll went 10-for-10 on draws.
