Jonathan Bernier’s postgame thoughts…
(on rebounding from Ovechkin’s early goal…)
BERNIER: “It was a great shot. What are you going to do? You can’t think about it. You’ve got to move on. He made a great move and cut to the middle and (shot) through Dewey’s legs. It was a good shot and a good move, so what are you going to do? You’ve just got to forget about it.”
(on his good play and the defensive play in front of him…)
BERNIER: “Obviously, I think the team played one of our best hockey games, for sure. I think guys were really willing to pay the price, coming back hard to our zone, and that makes a huge difference for a goalie, that’s for sure.”
(on limiting Washington’s power-play chances…)
BERNIER: “I think we surprised them a little bit with our pressure sometimes on the half wall. I think that was the biggest thing. They like to have a little more time and make those seam passes, but I think our stick was really good. We were blocking shots, and obviously our PK was really on tonight.”
