Greene takes step toward return

Matt Greene took a major step toward a return when he participated in his first full-team practice since last Wednesday. Greene hasn’t played since he took a hit to the head from Detroit’s Niklas Kronwall nine days ago, and Greene had been back in Los Angeles while the team played the last three games of its five-game road trip. After today’s practice, Terry Murray said that if all continues to progress as planned, Greene would be on track to return for Sunday’s game against Anaheim.

MURRAY: “He looks good, and he feels good. I had a little talk with him there at the end of the practice, and he’s been biking. He skated yesterday on his own. He did get some extra (on-ice) work here today, and again tomorrow he will get pushed pretty hard in the morning skate. He will not play tomorrow. We’re going to stay with the same lineup. So he will get through tomorrow’s practice with good work, and have an opportunity to meet with the doctor, and hopefully he’s going to be cleared and ready to go on the 26th.”
