Matt Greene’s postgame thoughts…
(on Ryan Smyth’s non-goal…)
GREENE: “It looked good to me, but it’s tough to overturn a call when a referee makes a call on the ice there. It’s tough to overturn that, but to me, personally, it looked like a good goal.”
(on the game…)
GREENE: “Right now, I think there’s a reason we’re losing these games. We’re outshooting some teams and we’re playing well, but we’re not playing up to what we could be doing. I think we’re capable of playing better than this. It’s just execution. Little things too. A lot of their goals are coming from breakdowns on our part, that we’re giving them. It’s tough. It doesn’t matter how many shots you give up. If you’re going to give up a Grade-A chance every five minutes, it’s a mental lapse and you’re going to keep losing games like this.”
(on Spezza’s goal…)
GREENE: “He had a good head of steam and made a nice move. I’ve got to stop that, though. If I want to play the minutes against a guy like that, then I’ve got to be better against him. That third goal was completely my fault.”
(on losing another game when they held a lead…)
GREENE: “Yeah. That’s something that we’re definitely lacking right now, especially in the last four or five games. We’re letting teams back in it. Last year we weren’t. Killer instinct or whatever it is, I don’t know what it is right now but it’s just not working and we’ve got to find that part of our game.”
