Here are some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings held the lead twice but lost to the Buffalo Sabres 4-2 on Friday night in Buffalo. The Kings, who had a six-game winning streak, now have a three-game losing streak.
— The Kings held leads of 1-0 (first period) and 2-1 (second period) and, as they did in their previous game, entered the third period tied but allowed two goals and did not score.
— The Kings have been outscored 8-2 in the third period in their last three games. Before that, in their first 15 games, the Kings had outscored their opponents 18-8 in third periods.
— The Kings went 0-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill. After a rough start, the Kings had pushed themselves up to 14th in the league in power-play efficiency, but now they’re 18th. The Kings have allowed four power-play goals in their last three games and have dropped from first to fifth in penalty-kill efficiency. Buffalo had entered the game with three power-play goals in its last 39 chances.
— The Kings outshot the Sabres 36-26 and have outshot their opponents in seven consecutive games, but have won only three of them.
— The Kings had been 4-0-0 this season when leading after the first period.
— Jonathan Bernier allowed four goals on 26 shots, and his personal record fell to 2-4-0.
— Dustin Brown scored his ninth goal of the season, in the first period, to tie Justin Williams for the team lead. Brown has scored four goals in his last six games.
— Anze Kopitar assisted on Brown’s goal and has recorded at least one assist in six consecutive games, with three goals and seven assists during that span.
— Jack Johnson also assisted on Brown’s goal and is tied with Kopitar for the team lead with 13 assists.
— Wayne Simmonds scored a goal and broke a streak of seven consecutive games without a point.
— Jack Johnson recorded a game-high six shots on goal. Matt Greene was credited with a team-high three hits and Johnson and Jarret Stoll were each credited with three blocked shots.
— The Kings won 31 of 57 faceoffs (54 percent). Michal Handzus won 12 of 17 draws (71 percent).
— Drew Doughty played a team-high 26 minutes, 10 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards at 22:38.
