It’s Baseball Night for the Kings. Dustin Brown is at Dodger Stadium tonight for the Kings’ “My Town” promotion and is scheduled to throw out the first pitch before the game against the Cubs. Having never seen Brown swing a bat, I’m fairly confident in saying he could crack the Cubs’ starting lineup this year. Also, Canadian Press reporter Chris Johnston mentioned on Twitter that Drew Doughty is at tonight’s Toronto-Boston game.
A couple notes on each of these guys… One, Brown will have a big event Monday night at the House of Blues in Anaheim, a launch party for his new DLO-23 brand of apparel and hockey equipment, which will soon be going on sale. The event is closed to the public, but try whispering the word “Kovalchuk” at the door and see if they let you in.
Also, I inquired yesterday about the status of Doughty’s contract-extension negotiations. Not much to report, other than that there are talks but nothing is imminent. I’ll be checking periodically on that one.
