Ersberg’s reaction

Here’s what Erik Ersberg had to say this morning about the Kings’ decision to start Jonathan Bernier instead of him in Friday’s shootout victory over Dallas.

Question: With the understanding, of course, that you want to play every game, were you satisfied with the explanation you got yesterday?

ERSBERG: “Well, he [Terry Murray] explained his view, and I have my view, obviously. That’s pretty much all I can say. I don’t want to say anything that I’m going to regret or that is going to upset anybody, so I’ll leave it at that.”

Regardless of what you think of the situation, or Ersberg’s play, he has handled himself as a professional. After his first start, on Oct. 14, Ersberg sat 12 games before his next start. Then 12 before his next start. Then seven, then five, then 13. That’s not easy for any goalie, and it doesn’t help that the goalie who got the nod over him on Friday is the one who will be trying to take his job in training camp…
