Morning reading

Here’s a story from NHL.com on Jonathan Bernier. It covers a lot of familiar ground, if you’ve been following Bernier through the past couple seasons, but the quotes give some insight into what Bernier has been working on, and his mindset in the AHL…

AHL: Bernier shines in Manchester

Also, guess what? There’s a Kings game tonight. Fans all over the league will be holding their breath to see what their teams look like coming out of the Olympics. Four years ago, the Kings won their first three post-Olympic games…then went 2-5 and saw Andy Murray get fired. Yesterday, Terry Murray was asked what he hoped to see from the Kings in their first game after their two-week break.

MURRAY: “That first game, we’re just going to have to kind of feel our way into it. But I like what we’ve done in the practices. There’s been real good attention to detail. Players have brought good energy and focus and concentration. So with all of that behind us now, we just have to get back into the games, and players have to be sure that they’re managing their minutes the right way. You don’t want to over-extend yourself in the early goings. Let the game play out. Don’t be hesitant. Just keep going after it, keep that aggressive mindset and I think as we manage that emotionally, we’ll be OK, get back on track and, hopefully after a couple games, get back to full speed.”
