(on Richardson’s play tonight…)
KOPITAR: “Richie has been huge for us, with his intensity and his energy every night. He’s been playing really solid games. He’s been pretty much on our first penaly kill all this time now. He really uses his speed and his shot now, and it’s been paying off for him.”

(on his offensive activity tonight…)
KOPITAR: “The majority of the shots were mostly from outside anyway. In this type of game, when everything is so tight, you just want to put it on net. We saw that with the first goal we scored. We just kind of threw it on net and Richie got the rebound and was able to chip it over him and we were there. Obviously a shot is always a good play, especially in this building. They don’t give you a whole lot, and when you have a shot, you better take it.”

KOPITAR: “It’s a two-goal game. I know it’s (bad) but a two-goal lead is the worst lead in hockey, I guess. You score one and you’re right back in the game. You put them on their heels, and we managed to score in the third period. I thought we took the game over from there. The last couple minutes, obviously they’re the Detroit Red Wings and they have some skillful and really good players and they’re going to make plays, but we kept on fighting and got a huge two points for us.”
