Wayne Simmonds’ postgame thoughts…
(on the fights, including his with Ryan Getzlaf…)
SIMMONDS: “It is a division rivalry, and you are going to get a real intense game like that. It is physical and things happen. It is hockey. I think he (Getzlaf) was kind of upset. They were losing 3-0, and he asked me to go and I obliged.”
(on the physical play…)
SIMMONDS: “Things like that happen. I think we responded well tonight. Oscar dropped his gloves right away, and everybody on the team jumped in there, so we stuck together.”
(on the importance of the win…)
SIMMONDS: “That was a four-point game. Anaheim has been playing well. I think they had won five in a row before tonight, so to get those two points tonight, for us, was huge. We had a strong 60 minutes and we stuck together. That was the main thing, I think.”
