The goalie change

Here’s what Terry Murray said today about starting Erik Ersberg in goal tonight…

MURRAY: “I liked the way Ersberg came in and cleaned it up there the other night. He looked real sharp, and he’s been working as hard as you can in practice. I think I just need Quicker to get a little refreshed here, take a step back and get some practice time in, and get ready to go again.”

Question: Quick is quite a competitor. Was he upset at all with this news?

MURRAY: “No, he’s fine with it. That’s the way it is. There’s two goaltenders. I just feel he might be off a little bit right now, and just get refocused.”

Question: Did it help that Ersberg has already played against the Sharks this season?

MURRAY: “It helped a little bit, but the decision was more just as I mentioned. With Ersberg going in and cleaning up (against St. Louis) and looking real sharp in practice, I thought Quicker was just not quite at the top of his game. There might be a little wear and tear on him, and I just want him to get refreshed.”
