(on the team’s feeling in the third period…)
DOUGHTY: “We felt good. We were obviously disappointed that we let in that goal so early in the third period. You can’t let that happen, but after that I thought we took it to them. Everyone was playing well. We got pucks in deep and everyone was banging and crashing and getting pucks to the net. Kiprusoff played well. I think if that was any other goalie in net for them, I think we would have won.”

(on going 7-2-1 in this 10-game stretch…)
DOUGHTY: “I think we’re pleased. I think, in the games that we lost, we’re pretty disappointed in ourselves. We lost some conference games here, which we don’t like to do, but I think overall we’re doing great. A lot of the critics didn’t think we’d be where we are, but we believed it all along. I think if we continue to do that, we should stay on top and be a Stanley Cup contender.”

DOUGHTY: “I think we all know that we’ve got a couple games in hand, so they’ve got to catch up. It’s going to be tough if they’re all winning their games, but I think we’ll be fine. It’s good to get this rest. We have played so many games in so few days. It’s been tough for us. A lot of guys are battling through injuries and still playing, and some guys are out completely, so after this break we’ll get pretty much everyone back and we’ll be a great team. Not that we weren’t, but we’ll be even better.”
