Jonathan Quick was selected, by the NHL, as the league’s “first star” for the week that ended yesterday. Quick, who had a 1.58 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage in three games, all victories, beat out Vancouver forward Daniel Sedin and Phoenix goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov for the honor.
Another note about Quick… He has a chance to become the first goalie in franchise history to win his 20th game before the team’s 40th game. Quick now has 19 wins (EDIT: corrected) in the Kings’ 33 games. Mario Lessard was the fastest goalie to 20 wins in franchise history, when he won his 20th game in the Kings’ 40th game in 1980-81.
