Asked about Teddy Purcell being on the ice this morning, Terry Murray explained that the forwards who didn’t play much last night — Purcell, Ivanans and Harrold — got the ice time this morning for the sake of “catching up with where everyone left off.”
At the same time, asked directly if he played to make any line changes with the forwards, Murray basically said that he would be looking at different options.
Here’s what Murray said about Purcell’s game, and the third-period decision to replace Purcell with Brad Richardson…
MURRAY: “I started with Teddy there. I thought his first period was pretty good. He was digging in and blocking shots and got a few hits and was pretty comfortable with the puck. But as you get into that close game, tie game, one-goal game, I’m looking to be very responsible on the checking side, and I like what Richie has been doing over the last dozen games or so. So you make that change for that reason.”
