Five Kings prospects are among the 36 players selected, by Hockey Canada, to participate in the final evaluation camp for the 2009 World Junior Championships, which start Dec. 26. From the camp, the final roster will be selected. The Kings prospects involved are…
Defenseman Colten Teubert (Regina, WHL), a first-round pick in 2008 who played in the tournament last year; goalie Martin Jones (Calgary, WHL), a free-agent signing; defenseman Nicholas Deslauriers (Rouyn-Noranda, QMJHL), a third-round pick in 2009; forward Brandon Kozun (Calgary, WHL), a sixth-round pick in 2009; and forward Brayden Schenn (Brandon, WHL), a first-round pick in 2009.
The camp will be held Dec. 12-16 in Regina, Sask. As an interesting side note, Hockey Canada’s head scout is Al Murray, who spent 18 years in the Kings’ organization, most recently as the director of amateur scouting. His last draft with the Kings was in 2006.
