First-period stats

The official stats have the Islanders with 19 hits in the first period to the Kings’ 2. That seems like a bit of home cooking, but clearly the Islanders kept the Kings from establishing much in the offensive zone, and physical play was one factor.

The Kings won the faceoff battle (yes, really) 8-7 in the first period.
