Having recently communicated with a Kings spokesperson, I can pass along that there is no new news to share on Jarret Stoll, and that the Kings are still in “fact-gathering mode” in learning about the NHL veteran’s Friday arrest in Las Vegas on suspicion of drug possession.
I’m told that at some point at a later time, the organization will comment or make a decision on the matter, but as of right now there is no new news to share on how Stoll’s status will be dealt with internally beyond what the team said in a statement Friday night. The 32-year-old who spent the past seven seasons with Los Angeles is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The Associated Press reported on Saturday that Stoll is being represented by attorney David Chesnoff.
Stoll was released on $5,000 bond from the Clark County Detention Center on Friday night. He’s accused of being in possession of cocaine.
Stoll’s attorney, David Chesnoff, urged “everyone not to prejudge the circumstances” surrounding the two-time Stanley Cup champion’s arrest late Friday afternoon at the MGM Grand Hotel’s Wet Republic pool complex.
“We’re looking forward to assisting a fine athlete and gentleman,” Chesnoff told The Associated Press. “We plan to investigate the allegations fully. We’ll be able to comment more at a later date.”
Stoll is expected to appear in a Las Vegas courtroom within several weeks. The court date was not immediately known.
