The Los Angeles Kings activated defenseman Matt Greene from injured reserve earlier today.
Greene, 29, missed 42 games due to a back injury suffered in the season-opening loss to Chicago that required surgery. He resumed skating in late March and was was cleared for contact in time for Monday’s practice. Though he traveled with the team to San Jose, he did not dress in the Kings’ 3-2 shootout loss to the Sharks.
LA Kings Insider will have more on Greene’s potential return following the conclusion of today’s morning skate.
Jonathan Quick did not participate in today’s skate. He is the projected starter for tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
UPDATE, 10:50 AM: Keaton Ellerby, Colin Fraser, Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli remained on for extra work at the morning skate, which could be an indication that Greene will replace Ellerby in the lineup. I’ll have more throughout the day on LA Kings Insider.
