For the second consecutive year, Jim Fox is hosting a great charity event in Long Beach. This year’s “Sunset Sip” wine-tasting reception will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Museum of Latin American Art (628 Alamitos Ave.) Proceeds from the reception will once again benefit The Guidance Center, which describes its mission as “comprehensive mental health treatment to our community’s most disadvantaged children and their families struggling with mental illness and abuse, leading them toward a positive and productive future. The Guidance Center envisions a community where all children have the help they need to be healthy and happy.”
Also scheduled to be part of the event are Luc Robitaille and his wife, Stacia; Bob Miller and his wife, Judy; Megan Drewiske, wife of Davis Drewiske; and Ian Turnbull and his wife, Inga. The event also includes a wine-tasting contest, food, a silent auction, and a showcase of artwork from museum clients. There are 250 tickets available, at a cost of $100 each ($175 for a couple). OT – so I’m watching game 5 vs PHO and at the end of the very shift of the game, there’s Kopi cleaning out SD from Quickie’s crease. Not a thundering hit or anything, but he leaned on him and moved him with some direct force, something Kopi usually doesn’t let slip into his game… the fires of the playoffs forged some serious beastmodes for a lot of out players!!!

@Stuart, I will never forget this line from game 3 against Phoenix: Kopitar doesn’t skate into the zone, he just sail into it!

1st bit of nbc bias for the record – at about the 1:30 mark of the first Vrbata in on a 3-2 shoots it just high on a glorious looking chance that initially looked as if JQ hadn’t made a save, and he hadn’t, but the booth lamented how Vrbata totally blew that shot\chance but in reality JQ 2x stacked across and then spread his top leg high and FORCED Vrbata to shoot it high because there was nothing there, anywhere for him!!! But nbc heads went on and on about Vrbata blowing it as if he had an open net to shoot into… no respect!

@Stuart, I remember that one. I actually agreed with the announcer until later on it was finally caught that Quick got his toe pad on the shot after the stack. Quick was amazing.
