In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Sanford.
Blue Jackets 1, Kings 0: The Kings technically killed a second-period penalty, but the Blue Jackets scored six seconds after the end of their power play. Derek Brassard fed a backhanded, cross-ice pass through traffic onto the stick of Grant Clitsome, who pinched down and beat Quick with a high shot with 8:35 remaining in the period. David Savard also got an assist.
End of period: Shots were 8-8 in the second period, as the Kings continued their parade to the penalty box and their inability to score. The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Kings will be on the power play for the first four minutes of the third period, after tripping and cross-checking penalties to Samuel Pahlsson.
FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Blue Jackets’ Curtis Sanford.
Penner out: Dustin Penner will not play today because of an upper-body injury, the team announced. Kevin Westgarth is in the lineup.
