The road trip, and the interim coaching tenure of John Stevens, comes to an end tonight in Toronto. Yesterday in practice, the Kings did a 2-on-2 drill, split into two teams. After practice, the team bus diverted to a nearby Dairy Queen, and the losing team bought treats for the winners. It was a nice touch by Stevens and a solid attempt to keep a good team mood. Raise you hand if you think there will be ice-cream side trips under Darryl Sutter. Seeing none… Of course, the Toronto media was collectively abuzz about Sutter’s imminent arrival, to the chagrin of players who, understandably, are getting a little tired of being asked the same questions in every city. If nothing else, Sutter seems to have a fan in Drew Doughty. Yesterday, Doughty had positive words about change, and today, he was asked directly about Sutter.
DOUGHTY: “I don’t really know much about him. I heard he’s a bit of a yeller and I think that’s a good thing. We need someone that’s going to push us, to get the best out of us every night, and I think he’s going to be a great fit for our team. I’m really excited for him to come along whenever he gets here.’’
