The wild action continued as the teams traded goals within 52 seconds.
First, the Kings tied the game 2-2 with a power-play goal with 8:36 remaining in the first period. Drew Doughty took a shot from the left point and Ryan Smyth, running traffic in front along with Justin Williams, tipped in the puck. Johnson also got an assist.
Then, with 7:44 remaining, Keith Yandle took a shot that got deflected before it got to Quick. The puck went wide left, and Scottie Upshall was there to pick it up and fire a high shot past the prone Quick to give Phoenix a 3-2 lead.
Doughty: “You’re not taking me down wit ya Jacky boy.”
Quick: “Easy on the screens Matty!”

@kevin from toronto, He has owed some of his GAA to the defense thus far this season, and you won’t hear it from him, but I think he can give credit to the ineptitude of the defense tonight as well.

I guess I could’nt get a better game to listen to. What the hell does it look like out there on tv.

@kinginsaltlake, Terrible.
But that’s actually because I’m stuck watching the low def Phoenix feed, complete with a play by play who is in dire need of a nose job to fix his deviated septum and perhaps some elocution classes.

I wouldn’t expect them to be having trouble with the Coyotes “speed” tonight.

I’m actually glad for this Phoenix power play, get the defensive minded play going maybe it will spark their 5 on 5

One of the worst defensive performances of the year and this pathetic coyotes lineup is looking like the 1980′s Oilers
[Reply]
So…not sure if it’s time for a time out or not, with 4:26 to go. It’s not like they haven’t had a couple commercial breaks to settle it down.

We just need to survive the 1st period. This is just going to be one of those crazy games and as long as we are only down by 1 or 2 after the first, we can stil take them. Keep the faith!!

Phoenix broadcast is predicting the goal changes to Sturm. They say it went off his shoulder. I can’t tell for the reasons previously listed.

Believe it or not, the Phoenix broadcast crew is giving the Kings credit for keeping up despite the Dogs playing over their heads.
