Next season, Drew Doughty will be entering the third and final year of his entry-level contract. If he doesn’t sign an extension before July 1, 2011, he will be a restricted free agent — although the Kings would have the right to match any offer sheet he received from another team — and starting July [...]
Injuries/World Championships
One of the rites of spring is for NHL coaches, who worked so diligently during the season — and especially during the playoffs — to guard injury news, to loosen up and talk about what ailments their players had been dealing with. Terry Murray did that today, and in a couple cases, it impacts players [...]

TSN.ca reports today that Drew Doughty and Wayne Simmonds would like to represent Canada in the IIHF World Championships, which start May 7 in Germany. Murray postgame quotes
Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts… (on whether there’s an easy answer for why the Kings lost third-period leads…) MURRAY: “There’s an easy answer. Two of the best players in the league did it. The Sedin line was tremendous. They won the series, they won the game and, in each one of those games you’re talking about, [...]
Brown postgame quotes

We had the momentum, and it can switch just like that. That’s what we can learn from this whole series. It’s a huge learning experience. We lost, but we had [...]
Smyth postgame quotes
Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts… (on the game…) SMYTH: “In the first two periods, I thought we were getting the puck in deep and we were retrieving it well. They battled hard. They chipped away and found a way to get a few breaks. You’re going to make your breaks in this game, and they did [...]
Quick postgame quotes
Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts… (on the series…) QUICK: “The team played great. They battled hard all series. That’s a very good Canucks team over there. We played well for six games. Obviously it’s not the outcome we wanted, but we’ve got some time to reflect on the season and start getting ready for next year. [...]
Doughty postgame quotes
Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts… (on the game…) DOUGHTY: “I felt we played good tonight. We outshot them and I thought we played good all around. Obviously they got that goal late. It was kind of a lucky bounce. We made a nice block and kind of lost the puck and it went right on his [...]
