A couple other quick notes. Congratulations to Kings head athletic trainer Chris Kingsley, who will work his 1,000th professional hockey game tomorrow. Kingsley (pictured right), the man often referred to in Terry Murray’s quotes as “Kinger,” joined the Kings in 2006. He had worked with the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs since 2001 and also spent three seasons with the AHL’s Lowell Lock Monsters. The training and equipment staffs work long hours and don’t get much recognition, so congrats to Chris.
Also, on a sadder note, condolences to the family of sportswriting colleague Graig Woodburn, who died last night at age 50 after a battle with cancer. Woodburn covered the Kings for the Riverside Press-Enterprise and Associated Press for a number of years over the past decade and had been living in Boston recently. Graig and I always joked that if the Kings won the Stanley Cup, we would write the book and call it, “Royal Ascent.” He will be missed…
