Toffoli doesn’t play due to lower-body injury, is day-to-day

Tyler Toffoli did not play in the Kings’ 4-0 win over the Nashville Predators Thursday night at Bridgestone Arena, ending a streak of 149 consecutive games played. A club public relations representative said that the winger had a lower-body injury and was day-to-day.

Toffoli had taken the ice at the start of the Kings’ morning skate Thursday but did not remain on the ice for line rushes.

The Toronto native was the second King whose significant streak of consecutive games played came to an end on the current seven-game road trip. In Boston, Dustin Brown’s streak of 207 games played ended when he did not play due to a shoulder injury. The current leaders are Drew Doughty (197 consecutive games played) and Jake Muzzin (191). The team record is 330, set by Anze Kopitar between March 21, 2007 and March 26, 2011.

Brown returned to action on Thursday, but Kyle Clifford, who suffered an undisclosed injury against Boston on Sunday, skated Friday morning but did not play against the Predators.

Toffoli missed six games due to mononucleosis in the 2014-15 season and had been a healthy scratch earlier in his Kings tenure but had otherwise never missed a game due to injury in his 262-game NHL career prior to Thursday.
