The Kings trimmed their training camp roster by six players on Wednesday, assigning forwards Jonny Brodzinski and Andrew Crescenzi, defensemen Vincent LoVerde and Zach Trotman, and goaltender Jack Campbell to the Ontario Reign. Goalie Thomas McCollum, who attended Los Angeles’ camp on a tryout, was also assigned to Ontario’s training camp.
Crescenzi, LoVerde, Trotman and Campbell all cleared waivers in the past two days. Peter Budaj, who also cleared waivers earlier this week, remains in camp with the club, but is expected to ultimately be returned to Ontario. I jumped the gun on Monday by deeming Budaj’s passing through waivers as “officially” confirming that Jeff Zatkoff had won the back-up job, when really it’s the “unofficial” confirmation. As noted multiple times, expect Zatkoff to back-up Quick this season.
With the roster moves, these players are still actively taking part in Los Angeles’ camp:
Goalies (3): Budaj, Quick, Zatkoff
Defensemen (11): Greene, McNabb, Muzzin, Scuderi, Doughty, Gilbert, Forbort, Martinez, LaDue, Gravel, MacDermid
Forwards (18): Purcell, Setoguchi, Kopitar, Gaborik, Clifford, Andreoff, Latta, Shore, Lewis, Brown, Kempe, Mersch, Dowd, Pearson, Nolan, Toffoli, King, Carter
This list doesn’t include Spencer Watson, who is recovering from wrist surgery and is technically on Los Angeles’ roster but is currently rehabbing with Ontario. Based on prior correspondence, it’s very possible that he’ll return to the OHL for an overage season when healed.
