Scott Parse is almost certain to make his NHL debut tomorrow night, on a line with Jarret Stoll and Teddy Purcell. It’s been quite a journey for Parse, who was drafted by the Kings in the sixth round in 2004 after his freshman season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In his first full pro season, in 2007-08, Parse dropped to the ECHL for part of the season. Last season, he played the entire year in Manchester and had 15 goals and 24 assists in 74 games. This season, Parse had team highs of nine assists and 11 points for the Monarchs, mostly on a line with Andrei Loktionov and Oscar Moller…
Question: When did you get the call?
PARSE: “Yesterday afternoon, about 3 o’clock Eastern time. … My plane left at 7:30 in Boston, so I had to leave about 5 o’clock from Manchester.”
Question: How were things going down there? The numbers looked good…
PARSE: “It was fun. We were off to a good start, so that always makes it fun, to come to the rink and win. And personally, I was off to a good start.”
Question: Have they talked to you about what your role might be?
PARSE: “No, not yet. I just showed up and went to practice.”
Question: Do you have any expectations for yourself?
PARSE: “Just do what I can. Help the team win and work hard and see what happens. … I was skating with Teddy and Stolly today, so hopefully if we get a chance to score and make plays, we can do it.”
Question: Terry mentioned that you didn’t get in a preseason game, and he thought you might have been a little motivated by that and wanted to show something…
PARSE: “Well, it was disappointing not to play in a preseason game, but I just went down there and worked hard, and I got called up here.”
