Here’s what I can tell you tonight… Dean Lombardi has still yet to respond, and it appears as though he’s had his phone off for a few hours now. However, a good team source has provided some insight into the Kovalchuk situation, and it’s what you might expect, that the Kings are “out” of the Kovalchuk chase to the extent that they’re not raising their offer any further. There’s nothing to say that talks couldn’t resume, but it seems as though that will only happen if Kovalchuk wants to come down from his request. It seems as though that $100 million price tag might be closer to reality than many believed. So we’ll see, in the next day or two, if Kovalchuk signs elsewhere for mega-bucks or if this chase will continue. That’s what I’ve got for now…
